Every year at its annual Momentum conference, DocuSign introduces new partnerships and programs. In addition, each year the conference has a theme, and Momentum ’16 was no different. In 2016, DocuSign asked its attendees to “imagine what you can do.”

The transformational power of DocuSign allows companies to do plenty. The effects of taking a company paperless on the digital platform can prepare them to become digital disruptors within their industries. In addition to asking conference attendees to imagine what they can do, DocuSign encouraged those present to consider the impact that using DocuSign could have. The DocuSign Impact Foundation and the transformational power behind the DocuSign product can make a difference in the lives of others and the world as a whole.

What is the DocuSign difference? In the following, check out three ways that DocuSign is having an impact on people and processes around the globe.

Impacting the Environment

Concern over environmental issues has been on the rise over the last several years, and more global citizens are trending toward conservationist attitudes than ever before. From deforestation in China to rising sea levels on American shores, sustainability is growing more important to society. The need for companies to step up and practice corporate responsibility has both a real, demonstrative impact on environmental health, as well as on the brands that cater to modern consumers.

In the United States, unrecycled paper contributes 26 million tons of solid waste to landfills every year, comprising 16 percent of all trash contained within landfills annually. In the United States alone, the U.S. population requires around 68 million trees each year in order to meet paper needs. However, DocuSign’s fully digital products are enabling corporations and individual users alike to reduce their reliance on paper with some heartening results. In a single year, DocuSign was able to conserve water equal to the amount used in a month within the entire city of San Francisco due to its digitally transformative operations. Additionally, it prevented 43 times the number of trees in New York’s Central Park from destruction by abandoning paper. Altogether, the number of paper sheets that DocuSign products saved, stacked on top of one other, would equal a height 1,759 times the size of the Empire State Building. Through its digital operations, DocuSign makes a difference in conserving the world that we all live in, an impact that can have real and lasting results for everyone on the planet.

Impacting Lives

Just as DocuSign products can advance the state of the environment, the Digital Transaction Management platform also has the capability to advance the well being of those who need help the most. To make a difference, DocuSign formed the DocuSign Impact Foundation, a facet of the company which focuses on improving the quality of life in communities around the world.

DocuSign makes a difference via its Impact Foundation using a three-pronged approach. First, it offers all company employees 24 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer, allowing them to participate in the nonprofit work of their choice while on the clock for three full work days. Every year, hundreds of DocuSign staff members work with organizations focused those causes that matter to them most, donating their time to organizations within local communities. Moreover, the DocuSign Impact Foundation has a donation match program, which allows employees to monetarily support a certified 501(c)(3) group of their choice for an amount that is matched by DocuSign. In addition, DocuSign provides its products to qualified nonprofit groups at a discounted rate, allowing those out on the front lines to accomplish more faster. Money saved through digital operations can then be invested directly into the people and causes that they support.

DocuSign aims to make a difference in the lives of others by helping nonprofits in ways that they need it most: by enabling them to invest funds and other resources in those areas where they can make a direct difference rather than by investing time and money into paper-based processes that slow the speed of change.

Impacting the Future of Business

Modern technology has progressively changed the way that businesses operate, ushering in the age of digital and requiring any company that relies on traditional business models to adapt or face disruption. Making the transformation to digital is not always easy, but it is necessary for those companies that want to continue their success into the future. Through its Digital Transaction Management platform, DocuSign is committed to providing a product that makes a real impact on businesses within every industry.

Adopting paperless operations is an excellent first step for any company that is prepared to make the switch to digital. For SMBs and enterprises alike, eSignatures and the secure virtual storage of digital documents yield increased business velocity, more satisfied customers, and a streamlined workflow within internal operations. DocuSign makes a difference in the new business market by creating a smoother path to digitization in an age when companies must either learn to adapt or close their doors. With over 1,500 use cases and 230 million transactions successfully completed to date, DocuSign will use its popular products to continue making an impact on the future of business.
