Krach Leadership Center Dedicated to Student Excellence
"A Purdue education is not only about acquiring content mastery and workplace skills. It's also about preparing one’s self for citizenship and developing the personal qualities to help others build better businesses and communities. The Krach Leadership Center is where tomorrow’s leaders will get their start", so remarked Purdue President Mitch Daniels as part of the dedication of the Krach Leadership Center.
On a beautiful Homecoming Saturday morning a large group of Purdue administrators, students, family and Sigma Chis gathered outside the newly constructed 81,500 square foot Center for Student Excellence and Leadership building. This gathering was to recognize the significant contributions of Keith and Metta Krach for their generosity and Keith’s continued involvement in leading Purdue, most recently as the chairman of Purdue’s Board of Trustees.
Success Attributed to Sigma Chi Values, Father's Humor
Speaking at the dedication were Board of Trustees Chairman Thomas Spurgeon, Purdue President Mitch Daniels, long time friend and Sigma Chi Dick Hester and Keith. Also taking part in the ceremonies were Metta Krach and Keith’s older sons, Steve and Carter. Keith attributed much of his success to his early involvement with Sigma Chi and continues to run his organizations around the values of our Fraternity.
Keith also mentioned that his Dad’s advice to keep humor a part of your life has helped him in many ways. His father would have been proud of the way Keith had the audience "laughing out loud" with his stories of his days as an undergrad and living in the chapter house. It is very evident Keith’s thoughts and heart are never far from Sigma Chi.
Post Football Game Celebration Held
Following the football game, a reception in honor of Keith and Metta was held at the Buchanan Club at Ross-Ade Stadium. With many of the guests Sigma Chis of the late '70's and early '80, it was a great opportunity to see old friends of that era. Also in attendance were many with Purdue connections that have worked with Keith. Led by Steve Schmidt '76 the 40+ Sigma Chis belted out the "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi" in a special tribute to all the sweethearts present.
A Fitting Honor
It is a fitting honor that now as young men go through pledgeship and they are expected to know which campus buildings are named after Sigma Chis, that Keith’s name will be remembered along side of Ade, McCutcheon, Tarkington and Brees.
Keith is presently CEO and Chairman of DocuSign and resides in San Francisco with Metta and their 3-year old twin sons.
