Keith Krach leads US delegation to deepen US economic ties with Taiwan

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) and US-Taiwan Business Council Chairman, Keith Krach, discussed plans to build an economic partnership with the US through a “Taiwan model,” during talks with a visiting US-Taiwan Business Council delegation on Tuesday.

USTBC Chair Keith Krach and President Rupert Hammond-Chambers led the delegation.

In a Facebook post, Lin said the “Taiwan model” would be used to align with US policies and deliver on promises. This includes building new industrial clusters in the US to support Taiwanese companies and the vertical integration of the AI supply chain. This model will “make full use” of US capital, technology, and talent to strengthen the global influence of Taiwan-US industries, he said.

Lin said Taiwan also seeks to deepen bilateral industrial collaboration. Together, Taiwan and the US can bring emerging fields such as robotics to developing countries and expand cooperation footholds there.

Taiwan will work with other democratic partners to create shared prosperity and strengthen mutual economic resilience, the foreign minister said.

For the Taiwan-US partnership to be elevated globally, a double taxation avoidance agreement must be finalized, Lin said. This would make investment smoother for companies and deepen bilateral economic and trade ties.
