Collaborative workspaces and digital handshakes | #ibmwow
by Brittany Greaner | Oct 27, 2016
DocuSign Inc. and IBM Corp. have formed a new and powerful partnership. For DocuSign, IBM’s Watson cognitive computing platform makes contracts smarter than ever, with an ability to evaluate and flag potential issues in contracts, according to Inhi Cho Suh, GM of Collaboration Solutions at IBM. On IBM’s side, the partnership with DocuSign is another step toward IBM’s openness for partnerships to better serve their customers.
“We want our teams to do what they need for customers and clients that they serve. … They should be able to mix and match the pieces they need,” said Suh, GM of Collaboration Solutions at IBM. Suh and Keith Krach, chairman and CEO of DocuSign, were interviewed by Dave Vellante (@dvellante) and John Furrier (@furrier), hosts of theCUBE*, from the SiliconANGLE Media team, during the IBM World of Watson event in Las Vegas, NV.
Watson Workspace
Ever-focused on collaboration, another effort of IBM’s is called the Watson Workspace. Using this technology, Watson can get to know users and what they need to accomplish. It can also help with teamwork, including a page called “moments.”
This is for the times when a team member steps away from a team discussion. And whether the team member is for a long meeting or a quick lunch, when they return, Watson’s API can quickly curate a summary of what happened while they were away. In addition, the team member can choose how in-depth of a summary they get, from 30 seconds to 30 minutes.
Digital handshakes
DocuSign, for its part, plays arguably the most important role in many business transactions: to sign or not to sign — the moment of truth or the moment of elation in a digital handshake. “For so many we’re the first step or catalyst for transformation,” said Krach.
Moving forward, innovations include being able to pay and sign at the same time. As the last unautomated domain of enterprise, they are ultimately a company that brings people together, he said.
