Center for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue Adds Three Distinguished Senior Fellows to the Team
DeLaurentis, Cirilli, and Swanson expand the Center’s diverse portfolio, further mission of ensuring technology advances freedom
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. and WASHINGTON, D.C., January 6, 2022 – The Center for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue, America’s first “tech tank,” starts the new year with the addition of three distinguished experts to its diverse and fast-growing team of Fellows. New Senior Fellows include Dan DeLaurentis, Director of the Purdue Institute for Global Security and Defense Innovation; Kevin Cirilli, former Chief Washington Correspondent at Bloomberg; and Bret Swanson, President of Entropy Economics.
“We at the Center for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue are excited to welcome Dan, Kevin, and Bret and are eager for their contributions to our mission of ensuring that technologies advance freedom,” said Bonnie Glick, Director of the Center.
This new class of Senior Fellows, with expertise in topics ranging from aerospace to media to synthetic biology, embodies the diverse interests and work of the Center as we remain committed to convening experts who can educate policymakers on the tech issues that touch every aspect of our lives and diplomatic outreach in the 21st century.
Senior Research Fellow Dan DeLaurentis brings experience in aerospace engineering, global security, and defense innovation to the Center. DeLaurentis will kick off the new year by harnessing his expertise in aeronautics and astronautics to lead a workshop for policymakers, diplomats, and other government officials on hypersonic systems later this January.
The Center welcomes its first ever Senior Media Fellow in Kevin Cirilli, who will help effectively communicate the Center’s mission, vision, and research, and bridge the worlds of science and technology with policy for media and other key audiences.
With the addition of Swanson, the Center expands its work to a new field of technology as it adds a distinguished author and expert on cutting-edge technologies like synthetic biology and blockchain.
“Since our launch last year, the Center for Tech Diplomacy has welcomed some of the best and brightest minds in science, technology, and policy to our team,” said Keith Krach, Chairman of the Center and former U.S. Under Secretary of State. “I look forward to working closely with Dan, Kevin, and Bret as we push for stronger national security, human rights, economic growth, democracy, and human freedom through trusted technologies,” he added.
